Culture Talks: What Does Leeds Mean to Me?

14 September 2017
Squire Patton Boggs
6 Wellington Place
Leeds LS1 4AP

The Leeds 2023 bid to become European Capital City of Culture is gaining momentum and needs all of the business community to come together to support it.

We would be delighted if you would join us for “Culture Talks: What Does Leeds Mean to Me?” − a celebration of past, present and future cultural heroes of Leeds. We will be joined by a series of inspiring speakers, who will tell us their stories whilst addressing what culture has done for them and our city. We will also receive an update from Sharon Watson, chair of the Leeds 2023 bid, on the status of the bid and the opportunities for businesses to engage.

The event will be chaired by Henri Murison of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership. Confirmed speakers include:

  • Claire Mayoh, Archivist at Henry Moore Institute
  •  Dr. Arthur France MBE, co-founder of Leeds Carnival, which, in its 50th year, is Europe’s longest-running West Indian carnival
  •  Ellie Harrison, Leeds-based performance maker and lead artist on “The Grief Series” − a collaborative series of installations focussing on mental health

We hope that you can join us for what is sure to be a great event, helping us to continue the cultural conversation and build momentum behind the Leeds 2023 European Capital of Culture bid.

Please feel free to pass this on to any colleagues who may wish to attend.
