Fernando Cano-Lasa is a resident in the firm’s Houston office. Prior to joining Squire Patton Boggs, Fernando spent more than 12 years in-house with PEMEX, including as in-house counsel for the Chief Legal Office and as Vice-President of Legal and Strategy of PEMEX Procurement International, Inc. Fernando is a transactional lawyer whose practice focuses on energy, infrastructure, compliance and procurement projects and all types of corporate transactions in the US, Mexico and Latin America.

  • Responsible for ensuring legal compliance with anticorruption and export control laws for a subsidiary of a major oil and gas company in the US.
  • Represented a specialized engineering US company in its participation in a competitive market study for oil and gas operations in Mexico.
  • Coordinates and executes diverse compliance audits on behalf of clients regarding anticorruption matters and compliance with labor, data privacy and other applicable legislation.
