Joe Jones’s practice focuses on cross-border corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic investments, financing arrangements and technology transactions. He has experience with acquisitions, investments and project bids in over 40 countries. He also provides advice on antitrust/competition issues and complex regulatory matters.

Joe attended high school in Osaka, Japan, and practiced in Tokyo for 10 years before relocating to Washington. In addition to working as outside counsel for Japanese clients, he has over six years of in-house experience advising a major Japanese bank and a major Japanese trading company on their international investments. Joe also frequently works in coordination with local counsel to advise multinational corporations on their Japanese corporate, intellectual property and labor issues, utilizing his personal familiarity with the market from a foreign perspective.

  • Procurement of communications satellites and related launch and management services for a Japanese buyer.
