Kaori is a dual qualified lawyer in Japan (bengoshi) and the UK (solicitor). She holds a Masters in Law from Tokyo’s Keio University and an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary University of London.
Kaori began her practice in Tokyo advising clients on a variety of matters including contentious and non-contentious IP, general commercial contract and compliance matters. She moved to the UK in 2006 and has gained considerable experience in the UK IP litigation and cross-border antitrust investigations in London based firms.
While practising in the IP and regulatory fields, Kaori also acts as a first point of contact for our Japanese client-base in Europe. Kaori’s experience of practising in Tokyo and London makes her exceptionally well-placed to advise our Japanese client-base from the perspective of both cultures and legal systems. She assists on all matters (in Japanese as required) including IP, , competition, data protection, corporate, employment and dispute resolution, working closely with our specialists in the relevant fields and the relevant jurisdictions.
Kaori works with our Tokyo office and provides assistance to companies which require the Japanese legal advice on their Japanese operations.
Kaori regularly speaks on the European IP developments to Japanese audience and writes on Japanese IP cases for English readers.
