David Rice specializes in handling civil appeals and writ petitions. He is admitted to practice in every California court as well as the U.S. Supreme Court and most of the federal Circuit Courts of Appeals. He has also participated in matters before appellate courts of many other states. David has coordinated appellate litigation for a major foreign motor vehicle manufacturer throughout the U.S. in products liability and class action matters.

In addition to handling matters in the appellate courts, David is also regularly involved in trial strategy and major trial court briefing on behalf of defendants in class actions and other complex litigation matters. His role is to assist in obtaining advantageous rulings in the trial court and to position the case for possible appeal however the trial court proceedings are ultimately resolved. On behalf of foreign clients, he specializes in service and other jurisdictional challenges, as well as advising on discovery and other cross-border issues.

David has been an adjunct member of faculty at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, teaching courses in legal writing and research and moot court.
