Carl Rohsler is a partner based in our London office. His practice covers the full range of intellectual property work, including patents, trade marks and designs, copyright and confidential information. Although working on both contentious and non-contentious matters, Carl is best known for his work as a litigator, having been involved in a number of leading IP cases since 1995. He is a solicitor advocate (High Court: Civil 2001).
Carl is also known as one of the UK’s leading experts on gambling law, acting for a number of the leading online and land-based gambling operations in the UK and across the world.
Carl’s expertise in both IP and gambling law has been recognized in the 2004-20–10 editions of Legal Experts, 2003-20–16 editions of The Legal 500 UK, and Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession, listing Carl as a leading individual for licensing.
In addition to his expertise in IP and gambling regulation, Carl has considerable experience in advertising and marketing regulation, data protection, e-commerce and labeling and packaging law. He is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Montpellier, France.

Carl is recognized as one of the leading lawyers in the field of gambling law, working with some of the leading land-based and remote gambling operations in the world on the international development of their businesses. Chambers Global Guide includes Carl as one of the top 30 gambling lawyers in the world. Carl is on the editorial board of World On-line Gambling Law Report.
Carl was editor of Current Law Statutes Guide to the Gambling Act 2005 (the first textbook on the current UK legislation) and also edited Current Law Statutes on the National Lottery Act 2007. His most recent work, Licensing Law and Practice (Sweet & Maxwell December 2008), which Carl co-authored with Philip Hyde, is the most comprehensive guide to gambling and licensing currently available in the UK.
