Kate Spratt advises and represents stakeholders in domestic and cross-border corporate restructuring, distressed and non-distressed transactions, negotiations and external administrations. She also regularly acts in a range of corporate and commercial disputes, alternative dispute resolution processes and litigation, including in class actions, across a range of sectors, including oil and gas, financial services, construction and infrastructure, professional services, retail and hospitality, energy and resources, as well as aviation and transport. Kate is currently completing the Foundation Certification through INSOL International, an international federation of restructuring and insolvency professional associations.

  • Advising and representing a major Malaysian financial institution in relation to its exposures and interests in a group of companies across Australia, Vietnam and Malaysia.
  • Advising and representing a US-based aviation company in relation to its interests from a distressed major airline in Indonesia and associated transactions.
  • Advising and representing a trustee on the winding up of a fund, including obtaining relevant directions from the court.
  • Advising and representing the administrators and liquidators of a major Perth-based construction company, including obtaining relevant directions from the court.
  • Advising a US-based entity in relation to the proposed wind down and restructure of Australian foreign listed subsidiaries.
  • Advising and representing the liquidators of a major construction company concerning claims for antecedent transactions and wrongful termination against a contractual counterparty.
  • Advising and representing shareholders of an ASX-listed mining entity in relation to alleged misleading and deceptive conduct and breaches of various statutory duties by former directors and auditors.
  • Advising a UK-based treasury and professional services firm in relation to its interests in the privatisation of state-owned energy assets, transactions with various superannuation funds and associated disputes.
  • Advising and representing ASX listed oil and gas, and gold prospecting companies in relation to distressed transactions, exploration permits and related contentious matters across Australia.
