How to Conduct a Workplace Investigation

9 June 2015
Squire Patton Boggs
Trinity Court
16 John Dalton Street
Manchester
M60 8HS

Investigating grievances and disciplinary matters can be complicated, time-consuming and a significant distraction for any business. One party is bound to complain that the process has been too invasive and public and another that it was insufficiently thorough or tainted by bias or prejudice. No wonder that managers often fight shy of getting involved.

Join us at our June Employment Workshop when we will use a case study to explore the key legal and practical issues that arise when conducting workplace investigations.

We will consider:

  • the role of an investigator;
  • planning the investigation – scoping and objectives;
  • evidence – what should you be looking for?
  • dealing with witnesses;
  • the investigation report – access, structure and presentation;
  • findings and recommendations – points to consider; and
  • data protection issues.
We will be joined by Paul Robertson-Marriott of HRPlus, the HR consultancy arm of Squire Patton Boggs, who regularly handles employee relations investigations in disciplinary and grievance matters.

Registration is at 8.45 a.m. for a 9 a.m. start. Workshops last 1 1/2 hours.
