The UK’s vote to leave the EU will have a significant impact on intellectual property rights covering the UK. Particularly affected will be unitary rights that currently cover the entire EU, specifically EU trade marks, Community Registered Designs and the (yet to be implemented) Unitary Patent. In this briefing, we consider how a Brexit will impact IP rights and assess what changes need to be made to IP filing and protection strategies.
