Gemma Bennett provides general pensions advice to both Trustee and Corporate clients. Gemma advises on all aspects of occupational pension plans, including governance, legislative compliance, plan documentation and member queries.

Gemma has done pro bono work at the Birmingham Legal Advice Clinic and is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers.

  • Advising the Trustees of a large international car manufacturer’s pension plan on the sale of the car manufacturer by its American parent company.
  • Acting as Independent Trustee to a pension plan and negotiating the pension aspects of a corporate re-financing.
  • Advising the Trustees of a number of pension plans in relation to both investment management agreements and custody agreements.
  • Advising the Trustees of two different University pension plans on a number of benefit changes.
  • Drafting consolidated definitive trust deed and rules for numerous clients, including a large global logistics firm’s pension plan, a large car manufacturer’s pension plan and a large utilities pension plan.
  • Involvement in the merger of two pension plans.
  • Advising a number of pensions plans in relation to closure to future accrual, from both a Trustee and Company perspective.
  • Advising the Trustees of a large PLC pension plan in relation to changes in benefit structure and drafting the necessary documentation to implement those changes.
