Paula Cole is a partner in our Labour & Employment practice and is based in the Manchester office.

Paula advises employers from a wide spectrum including listed plcs, universities, charities and owner managed business on all areas of contentious and non-contentious employment law. She has particular expertise in advising on large scale restructuring and reorganisation projects, frequently involving TUPE and industrial relations advice as well as dismissals and executive severance packages and discrimination claims.

Paula is listed as a leading individual in both Chambers UK and The Legal 500 UK and is a frequently invited to speak at external conferences on topical employment law issues.

Outside of work, Paula is a trustee of the Alder Hey Family Trust which operates the Ronald McDonald House which offers accommodation for families of children being treated at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool.

  • Advising an international construction business on its ‘Realising our Vision’ project which was designed to save costs of £50 million per annum.
  • Handling all the TUPE and employment law issues of the insourcing by a large national charity of advice line services previously provided by another charity on its behalf.
  • Advising a national logistics company on a series of redundancy and reorganisation projects as part of its modernisation programme.
  • Successfully defending a University from claims of whistleblowing (which included eight separate allegations) as well as claims for unfair dismissal and discrimination by one of its academic staff in both the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal.
  • Providing strategic advice to a multinational fast food corporation on the termination of a number of senior executives which included negotiation of the relevant settlement agreements.
