Professional Support Lawyer

Gillian qualified as a solicitor in 1997, specializing in contentious and non-contentious intellectual property work.   She practiced at two major UK law firms before joining the College of Law as a Senior Lecturer, with responsibility for designing and delivering commercial and intellectual property training courses for City of London law firms.  In 2006, she moved into a professional support role and joined the firm’s London office two years later in 2008.  

Gillian provides professional support services to the Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group.  The Group encompasses a range of disciplines, including commercial law, intellectual property, information technology, media and advertising and data privacy. Her role is to enhance client service delivery. To that end, her remit is broad.  Internally, she provides day-to-day knowledge support to all UK based IP&T lawyers.  She produces regular practice updates on key legal developments, designs and delivers comprehensive team training programmes and acts as legal counsel to the team’s lawyers. She also assists with legal research in complex cases. 

Gillian produces bespoke knowledge products for the firm’s clients, including publications on topics of interest, legal updates, seminars and webinars.  She is editor of, and regular contributor to, the firm’s Global Intellectual Property and Privacy Law blog. She writes extensively on developments in the area of IP&T and her articles appear in a variety of legal and industry publications, including World Intellectual Property Review (WIPR), INTA Bulletin, IP Litigator, Licensing Journal and in the Expert Analysis section of IP Law360. She is co-author of the firm’s publication “E-Commerce and Convergence: A Guide to the Law of Digital Media”.
