Radek Janeček leads the firm’s M&A and private equity team in Prague and also the family office/HNWI cross-practice team in Europe. He often handles complex corporate M&A and real estate transactions in both the mid-market and high-end spaces.

As a seasoned M&A partner, he holds relationships with a number of the firm’s key clients and private equity clients. Radek regularly advises both investors and management teams on all stages of the investment cycle, together with portfolio management issues. He effectively uses the firm’s multijurisdictional platform to advise his clients on cross-border transactions in various key sectors.

Radek is one of the few recognised lawyers with relevant business experience on the client side. Working on a variety of projects in the real estate area has helped Radek to develop unique legal know-how, invaluable business and market experience, and enviable contacts.

Radek is a triple-qualified lawyer in the US, Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. He has studied law on both sides of the Atlantic and has worked in several jurisdictions, including the US, the UK and the Slovak Republic. He regularly assists clients with multicountry and global deals, as well as with regional and global strategies for market entry. His experience covers the full spectrum of developed and emerging markets.

During his career, he has developed a wide range of multidisciplinary skills, including private wealth matters, and currently manages the firm’s relationships with high-net-worth private clients and family offices. In spring 2020, he was appointed European head of the rapidly growing Family Office Practice.

  • Advising Kongsberg Automotive (KA), a leading European automotive manufacturer, on the sale of its Interior Comfort Systems (ICS) business unit to Lear Corporation following approval by the European Commission.
  • Advising Amcor, a leading global producer of packaging materials, in connection with the acquisition of a 100% share in a Czech packaging manufacturer.
  • Advising Perceptron, a leading US public global provider of 3D automated measurement and robot guidance solutions, in its global merger with Atlas Copco.
  • Advising Eden Springs/Primo Water Europe in connection with their acquisitions in the CEE region.

Private Equity/Venture Capital

  • Representing private equity fund ESPIRA Investments in connection with the acquisition and subsequent sale of 50% stake in JK Education Group.
  • Representing ARX Equity Partners in connection with acquisitions of:
    • Brebeck Investment s.r.o., a specialised automotive parts manufacturer who acts as a supplier to the top tier racing car and motorcycle teams owned by the biggest automotive brands.
    • Promens Zlin, a Czech Tier 1 system and development supplier, focused predominantly on large vehicle exterior and interior parts, which are key components in the production of buses, earth moving vehicles and agriculture equipment.
    • The majority share in Fenestra Wieden s.r.o., a Czech constructor focused on glass facades, by FW Group a.s., owned predominantly by Arx CEE IV Coöperatief U.A.
  • Advising Inven Capital, a major Czech venture capital fund established to invest in the clean tech and new energy sector and is supported by a major European energy utility CEZ, a.s. and EIB, on:
    • The Series A and A+ investment in Hometree, a UK top-rated provider of comprehensive boiler, heating and home cover plans.
    • The investment in Cosmo Tech, a French startup. Cosmo Tech undertook a new round of financing of following a pivot of its business focus.
  • Advising founders on the sale of 100% shares in Czech company Ytica.com a.s. to Twilio Inc.

Family Office

  • Advising a family office on entering into a long-term third-party agreement with Fairmont Hotels to manage the five-star Hotel InterContinental Hotel in Prague.
  • Representing a private client in the acquisition of a well-known French winery, with its own vineyard in Bordeaux.
  • Representing a private client in connection with the family wealth planning and active management of private investments.
  • Representing a private client in restructuring the family business and wealth succession planning – including pledging a substantial part of the net worth to charity.

Real Estate

  • Assisting Aroundtown, a German real estate company, in a lease agreement negotiation with Penta hotels as the hotel operator. The agreement concerns the 20-year term lease of a hotel in the centre of Prague.
  • Ongoing representation of Redstone Real Estate Group in a complex advisory support on the brownfield development of a multifunctional centre in Pardubice, including the shopping gallery, offices, hotel and congress centre with approximately 50,000 square metres of rentable area.
  • Assisting ZFP Investments, a Czech management company acting on the account of a real estate unit trust, in connection with the purchase of a 100% share in the Polish company DAHLIA W24.
  • Assisting Galerie Santovka in connection with the development, construction, leasing and management of a shopping centre (46,000 square metres of the retail area plus approximately 23,300 square metres of planned extension).
