We are looking for an Associate (ideally 3+ year PQE) based in our Brussels office to join our busy Data Privacy & Cybersecurity team. This really is the best time to join Squire Patton Boggs’ rapidly expanding, global Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group, with the opportunity to get involved in a range of cutting-edge projects with plenty of scope for direct client contact. The role will suit an energetic person with a hands-on and practical approach, good people and project management skills and a genuine interest in this area of law and willingness to learn.

Our Team

Squire Patton Boggs’ Data Privacy and Cybersecurity (“DP&C”) Practice Group advises clients in all the legal, regulatory policy and legislative issues that have substantive impacts on the way companies manage personal data collection, storage, transfer and cybersecurity risks. We are very busy advising our clients on GDPR compliance, legislative developments with an impact on data protection such as the proposed ePrivacy Regulation, data protection aspects of new technologies and business practices, including the Internet of Things, cloud computing, behavioural advertising, data breaches, international data transfers. For HR privacy issues, we work closely with our global Labor & Employment Practice.

Our global team works collaboratively across multiple jurisdictions on a diverse range of international , regional and local issues in both developed and emerging markets, operating under very different data protection, privacy and cybersecurity regimes. Our clients are from many different industry sectors.

Our Opportunity

We are looking for a dynamic and driven Associate to primarily assist our Brussels based DP&C partner, Monika Kuschewsky, who is a well-known specialist in this area of law. Monika has a broad spread of clients across a range of sectors. You’ll be based in our Brussels office.

You’ll be working as part of our pan-European and global DP&C team, in a multi-cultural, international and challenging environment. You will be working with some extremely well-respected partners and senior counsel, who have global reputations in this area of work, and will be part of a team that encourages personal skills development, teamwork and growth.

The role involves working closely with Monika on a variety of GDPR-related projects, but also other members of the team in Europe and across the Atlantic as well as attorneys from our other practice groups, including litigation, insurance, etc. You’ll be involved in tasks such as gap analysis, reviewing documents and advising on compliance issues, preparing reports and assessments as well as presentations for clients and undertaking research,. There will be opportunity to have direct contact with clients, and you will be fundamental to managing and ensuring smooth and efficient operation of large-scale, international projects. You

We’re looking for a fluent English speaker, who is able to demonstrate a passion for data protection! You’ll be incredibly well-organised, efficient, diligent and be able to show that you’ve managed projects well and pro-actively in the past. You are creative and like to develop ideas and solutions for new questions and take responsibility and initiative.

Strong academic credentials are a must, ideally with a Masters or post-graduate studies in a relevant area - although the right approach and attitude is more important. You’ll have superb written and oral communication skills (in English, as a minimum), and be confident, energetic and articulate. Prior work experience in data protection law, and an interest in IT and new technologies are a plus.

Bidding Specialist, Finance Department, Frankfurt

Are you looking for a new Client Service Relationship role? Then this role could be for you! We’re looking for a brand new CSR to join our busy Frankfurt finance team. You will need to have at least 3 years relevant experience and command excellent English skills (both written and spoken). Previous experience in a law firm is highly advantageous and strong communication and organisational skills are essential.

Our Opportunity

In this role, you will ensure the provision of an effective and accurate Billing and Credit support to the firm’s clients. You will need to ensure that the workload is actioned quickly and accurately to provide a seamless, and efficient, service to the business. As the main point of contact, you’ll be working alongside the German Finance team and the German Office Managers to co-ordinate the billing and credit processing for the German offices.

You

Due to the nature of this role, you must have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a similar area and should have an excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Although comprehensive in house training is provided, it will be beneficial for you to have previous knowledge of CMS (or similar) Financial System, and a sound understanding of German Accounting rules.

Receptionist, Böblingen

Our Team

You will be part of the secretarial and administrative team providing complete reception support for the Böblingen. You will report into the Böblingen Office Manager and will work alongside assistants, associates and partners.

Our Opportunity

In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of secretarial and administrative support duties. You will handle telephone inquiries, greet our visitors, make arrangements for conferences and meetings, and maintain the reception area. You will also deal with confidential and sensitive matters while working for partners. You will work on a variety of documents, arrange travel and itineraries, as required. Extensive diary management, and co-ordinating meetings and agendas will feature in the role. As a result, an excellent command of written and spoken English is required.

Tasks will vary day to day and will include preparing and proofreading correspondence, maintaining client and administrative files, duplicating correspondence and maintaining office supplies, as and when required. You will also be required to deal with firm bistro duties, order couriers and taxis and be involved in the general daily tasks of a busy law firm. In this dynamic and busy role, no two days will be the same!

You

You must have proven previous reception service experience within a professional services environment. As this role has numerous responsibilities, you will need to be an organised, proactive individual who can easily prioritise a varying workload. You will need to have the flexibility to assist other colleagues when required and have an enthusiastic attitude when doing so. You should also be able to use your initiative and spot where help is needed with limited supervision.

As you will be dealing with clients of the firm, excellent telephone and communication skills are key for this role. In stressful situations you always keep a friendly smile and a clear head. Ideally, you will have strong academics with a good knowledge of all Microsoft packages; however, service-oriented working, reliability and a quick perception are a must!

IT Support Analyst, Paris

Our global IT team is currently seeking an IT Support Analyst to join our team in Paris. This role is responsible for supporting the end-user community in Paris with any technology-related questions or concerns.

We require a minimum of three years’ computer operations experience, preferably in a Windows or other client-server environment, knowledge of client-server networks (Windows environment, specifically) and other network topologies, as well as an ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software-related issues in a Windows environment. Experience with document management systems is preferred, as well as some legal industry experience. The person in this role should have strong skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, mobile device management and remote access management (for example VPN or Citrix).

An excellent understanding of the French and English languages (written and oral) is essential for this role to ensure a high standard of service to our Paris clients.

Scheduled hours are Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week. There is periodic overtime, evening and holiday hours in this role.
