Ongoing Learning

Our Learning and Development team works with our people across the globe to support their performance and career goals. As well as furthering legal education, we focus on a range of skills training that will ensure you are able to provide an excellent service to our clients, as well as equipping you to respond to business and career opportunities as they arise.

While traditional training is delivered in our local offices, we also adopt a wider approach to ensure all learning styles are catered for, such as webinars, video conferences, e-learning and self-study.

In addition, we encourage coaching and mentoring as part of our firm’s culture, starting with our initial Buddy Program, so you can gain an insight into other levels of the business and accelerate your career development.

Rewards and Benefits

We believe in attracting and retaining the best possible talent for each of our offices.

We offer a reward and benefits package that is aligned to market and performance. You can be confident of our commitment to review salary annually, with reference to overall performance and contribution. In addition to salary, we offer a discretionary bonus arrangement for all of our employees, which ensures that all aspects of contribution are taken into account.

One of the firm’s most important priorities is the health and wellbeing of everyone who works here. Our My Wellbeing program is designed to support you in your health, fitness, career, finance and family. Each month, we introduce exciting new initiatives and raise awareness about the broad range of benefits already available to our people under one or a combination of these five areas.

We work hard to ensure we take into account the individual needs of our employees and provide them with the necessary support to allow them to perform the essential functions of their roles.

Corporate Responsibility

We have a solid commitment to ensure corporate responsibility is embedded in our day-to-day business operations. We actively support our local communities, engage in pro bono activities and get involved in a wide range of charitable initiatives. Everyone is encouraged to participate in our diverse offering of activities, and our lawyers are encouraged to complete a targeted number of pro bono hours per year.

We also make financial contributions to an array of charities, and the Squire Patton Boggs Foundation embodies our commitment in this area.

We strive to incorporate sustainability into the design and functioning of our offices and encourage conscious use of resources. Our offices around the world have developed ongoing green programs and policies to help achieve this initiative.

Inclusion and Diversity

Overview

I am proud to say that diversity is a priority for our firm. Encouraging and maintaining an inclusive mix of legal professionals and staff is critical to business success, regardless of industry. And, as a global enterprise, we welcome every opportunity to include a wide variety of cultures to provide our clients with services most reflective of their own core values. By incorporating a diverse mix of people views and approaches, we ensure a bright, successful future for our firm and the clients we serve.”

Mark Ruehlmann, Chairman & Global CEO

As a global firm, diversity comes naturally to us, and we want to reflect the clients and the communities we serve. Regardless of where we operate, we take care to respect the diversity, talents and abilities of all of our people, and we believe our most valuable asset is our engaged, empowered and diverse workforce. Our commitment to pursue that priority has kept us at the forefront in addressing issues affecting under-represented groups in the legal profession.

Fostering a multicultural environment reflective of our society makes for a strong workplace and strong communities. It is our continuing commitment and privilege to offer an environment that encourages and supports diversity among our lawyers and staff. To achieve diversity, we must go beyond traditional recruiting and hiring practices. We look for individuals who will honor our commitment to diversity, pushing our firm and the profession as a whole toward broader inclusion of the talents that a diverse workforce can bring to the table. Of particular note, our Women’s Enterprise operates globally, providing a learning and business development forum for our lawyers within and across offices and practice groups. We also support diverse resource groups, hosting inclusive events for firm members, clients and community partners.

The firm is committed to being an equal opportunity employer, making employment decisions based on merit, skills, job-related qualifications and experience. It is our policy that employees and applicants for employment receive fair and equal treatment regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, race, nationality, religion, social and educational background, marital status and family or care responsibilities or any other category protected by applicable law.

This policy applies to all aspects of the employment relationship. We take a long-term view of our lawyers’ development, nurturing well-rounded lawyers with in-house and outside training and experience to provide the highest level of client service. Broad work experience, continually increasing responsibilities and new challenges are all part of our efforts to see our lawyers thrive.
