Beware of the Repeats - Coal Age Magazine

    One of the changes the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) enacted in response to the MINER Act of 2006 was to institute a new “repeat violation” penalty that adds a premium to penalties assessed on an operator’s most frequent citations. According to a MSHA policy statement, the repeat provision, which became effective in 2007, will “increase penalties for operators who repeatedly violate the same MSHA standards.”
