Our Legislation Update for April covers three new key pieces of employment legislation coming into force on 6 April 2010:
- 'fit notes' - a new system which replaces sick notes;
- additional paternity leave for babies born on or after 3 April 2011 which will entitle qualifying employees to up to 26 weeks' additional paternity leave, some of which may be paid; and
- whistleblowing - a new power for Employment Tribunals to forward details of whistleblowing claims to prescribed regulators.
The Update explains the key provisions of the new legislation, together with the implications for employers and practical steps to take.
