ACO Payments: Risk, Reward, and Reviewing Your Healthcare Partners

    April 2011

Squire Sanders lawyer John C. Erickson III is quoted in an article discussing the shared savings models of the proposed rules for accountable care organizations (ACOs) and balancing risk versus reward in establishing new health care partnerships. Mr. Erickson discusses how the two shared savings models place different levels of risk on ACOs to encourage broad participation once the ACO rules are finalized later this year. He also discusses how the shared impact of losses under these models will influence physicians’ development of ACO partnerships.
