    On September 16, 2011, six years after patent reform legislation was first introduced in Congress, the President signed the America Invents Act, which is the most significant change in the U.S. patent system since 1952. The Senate passed the Act by a vote of 89-9 two weeks ago, following its June approval in the House by a vote of 304-117.
