Squire Sanders partner Peter A. Pavarini’s article “Accountable Care Organizations” was published as part of a summary article in the February 2012 edition of AHLA Connections. Peter discusses the special attention warranted to the accountable care organization (ACO) model, which represents a paradigm shift to holistic healthcare delivery from traditional fee-for-service medicine. According to him, “2012 will likely be remembered as the year Medicare first recognized the intrinsic value created when providers voluntarily join together and cooperatively manage the care they deliver to beneficiaries.”
