In February 2012 the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) adopted a revised version of its Arbitration Rules. In this article, Squire Sanders partners Stephen P. Anway and Peter T. Chow explain that the latest revision is not a radical overhaul of the 2005 revision, but it does demonstrate CIETAC’s commitment to keep in line with developments internationally in arbitration practice. Stephen and Peter provide an overview of the key changes to the rules, including changes related to the seat of arbitration, consolidation, conservatory measures, multi-party appointment of arbitrators, mediation, summary procedure and language.
