    December 2012

With the 2012 elections giving President Obama a second term, and securing a Democratic US Senate majority, there is little question that implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) will proceed with renewed vigor. This article focuses on the PPACA in light of the Supreme Court's landmark decision in June to determine what challenges and opportunities lay ahead for healthcare providers. In particular, the authors look at how the PPACA might affect borrowers' access to capital in the future.

More than ever, decisions made by healthcare providers today require both a sound understanding of the law's financial impact and some reasonable level of confidence that adequate capital will be available to bring about those decisions.
