Squire Sanders lawyers Simon Garbett and Emma Birch have authored “Location, Location, Location: Growing the European Automotive Supply Chain”, an article published in Supply Chain Europe in April 2013.
While the automotive supply chain in Europe has undoubtedly suffered in the economic downturn, the last 12 months have seen considerable investment in plants across the continent, from the UK through Emerging Europe to Russia, and there is clear indication from Original Equipment Manufacturers of a willingness to bring their sourcing closer to home. This trend brings huge potential for further investment, job growth and expansion of the supply chain.
The authors look at lessons from the past and good business practice, including effective contracts, to suggest how manufacturers might build more sustainable supply chains and take advantage of growth opportunities.
