As fall begins, many Ohio school districts are considering the submission of ballot issues – including property tax levies, bond issues and school district income taxes – for one of the four election dates in 2014:
- February 4
- May 6
- August 5
- November 4
To assist our school district clients in planning, Squire Sanders is distributing the 2014 Election Calendar, which contains the deadlines for the submission of most ballot issues, including the special requirements for emergency levies, school district income taxes and certain bond issues.
Note that, for the February 4, 2014 election, October 7, 2013 is the deadline for submitting initial requests for consents for certain bond issues that would cause a school district’s net indebtedness to exceed 4% of its assessed valuation.
If you have any questions regarding a ballot submission that your school district is considering please contact the Squire Sanders lawyer with whom you work to ensure that all of the proper steps are taken and deadlines are met.
