The Public Competition Enforcement Review: European Union

Squire Sanders partner Oliver H. Geiss and senior associate Will Sparks have contributed a chapter on the European Union to The Public Competition Enforcement Review, an annual report on antitrust enforcement by government regulators around the world.

The chapter covers all major European Commission investigations, EU Court judgments and legislative developments in the antitrust sphere in 2013. These include the European Commission’s largest ever aggregate fine in a cartel case, its largest ever leniency settlement, and the first instance of the Commission fining an undertaking for breaching binding commitments offered to avoid a finding of an infringement. The chapter also considers the enforcement outlook for 2014.
