E-Commerce Sector Inquiry: High Time for an Internal Audit

    On 6 May 2015 the European Commission launched an enquiry into the e-commerce sector, voicing concerns that the commercial arrangements between private companies are unduly restricting cross-border online trading and are fragmenting the “digital single market”. The primary focus of the inquiry is on “goods and services in which e-commerce is most widespread such as electronics, clothing and shoes, as well as digital content”, but will necessarily constitute an investigation into the sale of any goods or services online in the EU.
