The Death of Patent Box Has Been Exaggerated but Time is Running out to Take Advantage of the Existing Scheme

    In April 2013 the government introduced a low tax regime, known as Patent Box, applicable to a company’s profits, derived from the commercial exploitation of inventions protected by certain types of patents. The existing Patent Box regime will be replaced by a new scheme with effect from 1 July 2016. Here, consultant Andrew Clay looks at how businesses can get the benefit of the existing Patent Box regime before it is replaced by the new scheme.
