    View Authors December 2016

Your landlord has issued a service charge statement that you do not agree with, what should you be doing next?

A service charge liability, whether commercial or residential, is a charge that a tenant is obliged to pay under their agreement with the landlord. However, it is a charge for services to be provided by the landlord. Therefore, it is important that you understand exactly what your landlord is obliged to provide and subsequently charge for.

If you have received a service charge statement which you think is incorrect, we have designed a key checklist to help you think about what steps you need to be taking and when. Please note, this is just a general guide to help you understand the next steps you can take and should not be used as a substitute for professional advice.
