EPA Issues the Proposed TSCA “Inventory Reset” Rule

    On January 13, 2017, the EPA published its proposed rule to “reset” the TSCA Inventory by designating substances on the Inventory as either “active” or “inactive” substances. Once the reset is complete, inactive substances cannot legally be manufactured or processed in the US without giving the EPA prior notice. This publication formally opens the public comment period on the EPA’s plans to require chemical manufacturers to report all chemicals in active use and the secondary requirements the EPA proposes to establish for processors.
