The Australian federal government has sparked a flurry of activity with the recent announcement confirming further changes that affect Australia’s skilled migration program. From 16 November 2019, skilled migrants will be able to move to Perth and the Gold Coast using the regional visa pathways as a result of the government reinstating Perth and the Gold Coast’s statuses as designated regional cities. Employers in the designated regional areas that utilise the skilled migration program and experience staff shortages will have access to a larger list of occupations to fill positions. In addition, they will have access to more attractive incentives for their overseas employees to want to relocate to Australia, including having priority processing on applications and a pathway to permanent residency.
