Phoenix - Joseph M. Crabb, a well-known corporate and corporate finance lawyer, is rejoining global law firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. from the Phoenix office of Quarles & Brady LLP. Crabb was with Squire Sanders for seven years before leaving in 2003 for Quarles & Brady.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Joe back, and not just because he is an exceptionally talented lawyer, but also because he’s joining us at a very exciting time in the continuing growth of our strong corporate practice,” said Robert L. Matia, Phoenix managing partner.
Prominent corporate lawyers Frank M. Placenti and Joseph P. Richardson joined Squire Sanders in early 2007. Placenti and Richardson came to Squire Sanders to team with corporate partners Christopher D. Johnson and John M. Welch, who have also long been recognized as leading practitioners in their fields. The group was joined in November by Justin D. Steltenpohl, who returned to Squire Sanders after serving as vice president and regional counsel for Meritage Homes Corporation, Darien E. Evans, who returned to Squire Sanders after serving as former associate general counsel at First Magnus Corporation, and Matthew M. Holman, who returned to Squire Sanders after serving as former associate general counsel for JDA Software.
“With these recent additions to an already strong group, we believe that we are now one of the largest and most sophisticated corporate practices in the Southwest. This practice is led by six partners with nearly 125 years combined experience who represent some of Arizona's most prominent public and private companies,” Matia said. “Joe has tremendous securities law expertise and experience advising clients on reporting requirements set by the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934. Justin has wide-ranging experience that combines real estate, corporate finance, restructuring and transactional experience. Both play key roles as Squire Sanders continues to expand its corporate practice.”
Crabb focuses his practice on corporate finance and securities matters including mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings, venture capital finance transactions and counseling corporate officers and directors. He frequently speaks about corporate governance issues. Crabb is also a community leader, serving as pro bono counsel for the Arthritis Foundation of Greater Arizona and as a member of the executive committee of the Valley Youth Theatre board. He received his J.D. in 1992 and his B.A. in 1989, both from the University of Iowa.
Steltenpohl has a corporate and real estate finance practice. He served in the US Army Military Intelligence Corps and received his J.D., summa cum laude, Order of the Coif, in 1999 from the University of Toledo, where he also worked on The University of Toledo Law Review. He received his B.S., magna cum laude, in 1996, also from the University of Toledo.
Evans’ practice focuses on corporate matters, with a specific emphasis on business and finance transactions for financial institutions. She received her J.D. in 2002 from Arizona State University and her B.A., cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1999 from Ohio University.
Holman’s corporate practice focuses on securities law, corporate governance and corporate transactions. He received his B.S., summa cum laude, in 1997 from Arizona State University.
