New York – Veteran bankruptcy lawyer Sandra E. Mayerson has joined the New York office of global law firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P., adding to the firm’s steadily growing New York presence and its global bankruptcy and restructuring capability.
“Sandy has been a leader in the bankruptcy field for more than 20 years and has an incredible breadth of experience. She has represented clients regarding virtually all aspects of US bankruptcy and restructuring representations,” said Stephen D. Lerner, head of Squire Sanders’ bankruptcy and restructuring group. “She also has unusually strong experience representing clients based in Asia, Europe and Latin America and US-based clients that are dealing with insolvency issues outside the United States. Our multinational clients will benefit from her global perspective, as will our international insolvency practice.”
Mayerson has particular expertise in large avoidance action litigation and fraudulent conveyance law. The National Law Journal has listed Mayerson among the United States’ top 50 women litigators, and she has served in practice leadership positions in her previous law firms. She received her B.A., cum laude, in 1973 from Yale University and her J.D. in 1976 from Northwestern University School of Law.
Mayerson is the most recent addition to Squire Sanders’ New York office. Since 2007, the firm has doubled its number of New York-based lawyers and added bankruptcy and restructuring, litigation, maritime, and tax and benefits capabilities to its existing corporate transactions, finance and governance and public finance practices.
