Over the past two years, global law firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. has represented clients in some of the world’s most significant international arbitrations, according to the Arbitration Scorecard published by The American Lawyer. The Scorecard tracks and tallies high-stakes international dispute matters for its biennial report. Squire Sanders was also recognized in the 2005 and 2007 editions of the Arbitration Scorecard.
The 2009 Arbitration Scorecard lists Squire Sanders among the "Top Firms" serving as arbitration counsel. The firm also won the second largest arbitration award during the past two years in a matter that the American Lawyer characterized as “the leading edge of a large wave of gas price revisions.” The firm represented clients in two of the largest investment treaty arbitrations and two of the largest contract arbitrations. The Arbitration Scorecard tracks commercial arbitrations involving claims of at least US$500 and investment treaty arbitrations with claims of at least US$100 million.
“It's been our privilege to represent clients on a wide range of complex issues,” said George M. von Mehren, who leads the firm’s international dispute resolution (IDR) and non-US litigation practice.
The Squire Sanders IDR practice is consistently recognized by publications including a Top 30 ranking in 2009 Global Arbitration Review GAR 100 and legal directories such as Chambers Europe, Chambers Global, The Legal 500 and PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook.
