Hammonds LLP has announced the appointment of David Hearn as the firm's Non-Executive Chairman.
Mr Hearn is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Committed Capital, an Anglo/Australian private equity firm. Prior to this he was the Chief Executive of Cordiant PLC based in New York, which at the time was the fifth largest marketing services group in the world with a turnover in excess of $7billion. Before that, David was Chief Executive Officer of Goodman Fielder Limited, Australasia's largest food manufacturing company based in Sydney with a turnover in excess of $4billion, having previously been a main board director of United Biscuits PLC responsible for UB Snackfoods throughout Europe and Asia.
David Hearn succeeds Crawford Gillies, who stepped down from the post at the end of his three-year term to concentrate on other activities following his appointment earlier this year as Chairman of Scottish Enterprise.
Mr Hearn's appointment follows that of Louise Fletcher, a London-based partner with Booz & Company, the global management consultancy firm, who joined Hammonds as a Non-Executive director at the beginning of the year.
Mr Hearn said: "I am delighted to be joining Hammonds at what is an interesting and challenging time for the legal profession. I believe that the strength of the firm's partners and staff, its client-focussed values and its international network provide it with a strong foundation to build on in the years ahead. I look forward to working with the Board and the partners to take advantage of these key assets for the benefit of all its clients and staff."
Peter Crossley, Hammonds' Managing Partner, commented: "The role of Non-Executive Chairman is a pivotal one. We are delighted to have secured the services of such a high calibre individual with the strategic experience and drive to help us realise our ambitions for the firm."
