Real estate lawyer and community volunteer Jeffrey Drew Butt has been named managing partner of the Tampa office of global law firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P.
“Jeff is both a civic and legal community leader, well respected for his acumen and client service, and very well regarded for his unstinting devotion to important community programs,” said Squire Sanders Chair James J. Maiwurm.
Butt focuses his practice in the areas of real estate, workouts and restructuring, leasing, business law, affordable housing and commercial transactions. He has more than 25 years of experience representing clients in all aspects of complex transactions.
He has received national and regional honors for his ongoing role as a key volunteer with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. For 16 years, Butt was pro bono legal counsel to the Crisis Center. In 2007, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist honored Butt with the Governor’s Points of Light Award; in 2006, the United Way of Tampa Bay selected Butt to receive the Golden Achievement Award. He is chair ex officio of the Crisis Center’s board of directors and a participant in Leadership Tampa. Butt also served for many years on the construction oversight committee of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. He is currently active in local Scouting programs and gifted education issues in Hillsborough County.
