Washington, DC, October 26, 2010—Patton Boggs LLP recently expanded its Energy and Natural Resources practice with the addition of George D. (Chip) Cannon, Jr., an accomplished energy attorney, to the Washington office.
“Given Chip’s extensive legal experience in the energy industry, he will prove to be a significant asset to the firm,” said Stuart M. Pape, managing partner of Patton Boggs. “His familiarity with renewable energy resources will add to our ever-growing energy practice.”
Mr. Cannon focuses his practices on energy regulatory and commercial matters, concentrating on the production and delivery of electric energy and related products from renewable energy resources. He has represented clients before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), federal courts and state regulatory commissions. Mr. Cannon has in-depth knowledge of incentive-based programs associated with the development of renewable energy resources, including Smart Grid technologies.
“I look forward to working closely with Suedeen Kelly and the entire energy practice,” said Mr. Cannon. “As a former commissioner at FERC, Suedeen will serve as an invaluable mentor and colleague to me.”
Before joining Patton Boggs, Mr. Cannon was a partner in the Energy Regulatory and Markets Group at Latham & Watkins LLP in Washington. He has been recognized annually from 2007-2010 by Chambers USA as a leading attorney in the regulation and litigation electricity energy field.
