Squire Sanders Hammonds has announced a new partner hire to the Leeds office, with the appointment of Real Estate partner, Matthew Dalzell.
Matthew will join Squire Sanders Hammonds from Watson Burton, where he became partner in August 2009. Matthew’s work covers many aspects of property, particularly acquisitions and disposals, financing and structuring, with a predominant focus on the student accommodation and retail markets.
Liam Buckley, partner and European Real Estate practice coordinator said: “This is our second partner appointment to the Leeds Real Estate team over the past 12 months and is an expression of the confidence that we have in developing the team. We are delighted that Matthew is joining us as he will play a key role in the continued growth of our Leeds practice and is undoubtedly a skilled real estate lawyer with excellent client relationships.
“The appointment of Matthew will ensure we are well positioned to take advantage of an upturn in demand for real estate services as the market improves. We believe that boosting our team at this critical time will enable us to stay ahead as activity returns”.
Commenting on his appointment Matthew Dalzell added: “I have worked alongside the firm on a number of deals in my career to date, and have admired the skill, intensity and professionalism of the teams. It is a fantastic opportunity to now be able to join the firm at what is a very exciting time following the combination with Squire, Sanders & Dempsey. There is clearly an ambition to invest in and grow the Real Estate team, and I am delighted to be able to be a part of that”.
