Inaugural North West Finance Director Awards honours the region’s elite

    The first North West Finance Director Awards last night honoured the region’s leading Finance Directors at a prestigious awards ceremony held at the landmark Hilton Deansgate in Manchester.

    The awards seek to recognise the key contribution and exceptional performance of the region’s top Finance Directors and their ability to adapt to changing market conditions.

    Compered by David Parkin from TheBusinessDesk.com, the event is sponsored by Barclays Corporate, Ernst & Young, Sewell Recruitment Group and Squire Sanders Hammonds.

    John Timpson, Chief Executive of Timpson’s the shoe repair business, was the main speaker on the evening and presented the Outstanding Achievement award.

    Amongst the winners was Dean Moore of N Brown Group plc who was presented with the evening’s Outstanding Achievement award. The judges stated that Dean has an excellent track record, has developed skills and experience that are extremely commercial in nature and unanimously agreed that he proved to be outstanding across all judging criteria and categories. In addition he was commended for being an excellent team player and reading the market correctly.

    Best Finance Director of a Ltd company (under £50m turnover) – Mark Walker, CVS (Commercial Valuers & Surveyors) Limited
    Best Finance Director of a Ltd company (£50m+ turnover) – Ian Sinderson, ATPI Ltd
    Young Finance Director of the Year – David Jones Barcrest Group Limited
    Best Finance Director of a Private Equity Company – Steve Williams, Warwick Chemicals
    Strategic Impact Award – Tim Kowalski, Findel plc
    Andy Lees, Corporate Director at Barclays Corporate said: “What a fantastic evening and an incredible turnout. It was refreshing to be able to step away from the continuing economic challenges that we are facing on a daily basis to focus on something positive, it is heartening to hear so many success stories from our regional FDs”.
