Denver, CO, January 30, 2012 — Patton Boggs Denver Energy and Natural Resources Partner Eric H. Drummond was recently appointed by University of Colorado Law School Dean Phil Weiser to the Advisory Board of the School of Law’s Energy Innovation Initiative.
Launched in fall 2011, the Energy Innovation Initiative is a joint effort undertaken by The University of Colorado Law School’s Silicon Flatirons Center on Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship and the Program on Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law. The Initiative brings together leaders in government, law, commerce, industry and academia to meet the substantial challenges posed by the world’s growing energy appetite. Currently, Dean Phil Weiser leads the project in conjunction with Associate Law Professor and Faculty Director William Boyd. In the program’s first year, it will address efforts to modernize the electricity grid, financing for clean technology, the changing utility business model, and the impacts of unconventional natural gas on the electric power sector. The Initiative is intended to support expanded training and educational opportunities for students, professionals and the broader community. Going forward, the Advisory Board will work to develop an LLM in energy innovation.
“The creation and successful establishment of the Energy Innovation Initiative at the University of Colorado Law School exemplifies the Law School’s position as a leader in technology and entrepreneurship,” said Edward Newberry, managing partner of Patton Boggs. “Eric’s work as a member of the firm’s Sustainability and Clean Technology, and Energy and Natural Resources practices will both benefit the Advisory Board and compliment the Law School’s strength in technology, innovation, and energy and natural resources law.
