Squire Sanders has expanded its global capital markets capability with the addition of partner Tomas Cerdan in London.
Tomas joins Squire Sanders from White & Case LLP. His broad capital markets practice covers straight debt (bonds, loan participation notes, medium-term note (MTN) and Euro commercial paper programs), hybrid capital issues, structured products and liability management transactions as well as equity capital markets (including Global Depositary Receipt programmes) and financial restructuring, having acted on bank debt restructuring in Kazakhstan.
Tomas’ strong track record of advising on transactions in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan and in the Middle East and Africa enhances and reinforces Squire Sanders’ capabilities in emerging markets.
He also fluently speaks Spanish and offers experience advising on high-profile Spanish capital markets transactions. Prior to joining White & Case, Tomas practiced at Clifford Chance LLP where he was instrumental in developing the firm’s capital markets practice in Madrid.
“Tomas’ expertise enhances Squire Sanders’ global capital markets practice and our ability to offer these services to issuers, underwriters and investors,” said James Barresi, chair of the Financial Services Practice Group. “His international experience will directly support our practices in Europe, in particular in emerging markets.”
