Squire Sanders has expanded its corporate team in Birmingham with the appointment of two lawyers, Nina Martyres and Claire O’Connor.
Martyres has joined Squire Sanders from Cobbetts, where she trained and was a member of the corporate and banking team since qualifying in 2009. She has wide ranging corporate law experience, including advising on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), public and private equity and she has advised clients on both domestic and international corporate transactions.
Martyres joins Claire O’Connor, who trained at Squire Sanders and has recently qualified into the corporate team. A graduate from The College of Law in Birmingham where she was awarded the College LPC Prize for Commercial Law, O’Connor has international M&A experience, having worked alongside lawyers from Squire Sanders’ global offices on cross border transactions.
Martyres and O’Connor join the 9 lawyer Birmingham corporate team, headed by partner Ed Dawes, and comprising fellow partners, Peter McLintock, Geoff Perry and Christian Lowis.
Squire Sanders is ranked as one of the UK’s top 10 law firms by turnover and amongst the world’s top 10 for global coverage with over 1200 lawyers and 37 offices. Key transactions in the Midlands completed by Squire Sanders this year include acting for US buyer, Cytec Industries on its £274 million takeover of Umeco plc and acting for Raleigh Cycle Limited on its £62 million sale to Accell.
Commenting on the appointments, Ed Dawes said: “We are excited to welcome Nina and Claire to Squire Sanders’ corporate team. Many of the Birmingham team’s corporate clients fall into two categories; Midlands companies doing business here and abroad, and overseas businesses investing in the UK. Nina and Claire will play an important role in supporting both categories.”
