Global legal practice, Squire Sanders has again achieved a 100 percent rating in the 2013 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), published annually by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the largest advocacy group for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees in the United States.
Squire Sanders was one of 252 businesses to achieve the top rating of 100 percent. The foundation researched over 600 employers, including more than half of the Fortune 500 list. The index is based on the foundation’s independent research, as well as information submitted by the businesses themselves. Each is evaluated on criteria such as non-discrimination policies, diversity training covering sexual orientation, employer-provided domestic partner health insurance and other resources available to LGBT employees.
Commenting on the award, partner and member of the Squire Sanders Diversity LGBT Affinity Group, Alvaro Mestre said: “We are very pleased to have once again received a 100 percent rating in the national CEI index due to the commitment that Squire Sanders places on encouraging and supporting diversity within the workplace. It is also great to see that many of our clients have also been named as top-rated employers.”
“This national recognition is a great honor and reflects the progress we have made and continue to work towards,” added Maureen Bennett Squire Sanders partner and member of the Firm’s Global Board and Diversity Committee.”
