Washington DC, June 11, 2013 – The Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) recently announced that Patton Boggs partner Joshua C. Greene has been appointed to its board of directors by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley.  As a member of the MCEC board of directors, Mr. Greene will play a key role in shaping current and future MCEC policies. Created in 2008, MCEC encourages the transformation of the energy economy with programs that catalyze business growth, increase related “green collar” jobs and make clean energy technologies, products and services affordable, accessible and easy to implement.

“We are grateful to have such high-caliber individuals as these new board members join forces with our existing board members to move MCEC further into the future,” said MCEC Executive Director Kathy Magruder. “The expertise they bring to the table will be very valuable to MCEC.”

Mr. Greene is well-qualified for the role, as co-founder and regional director of the Southeast Region of the Cleantech Open, the nation’s largest clean technology accelerator program for entrepreneurs and startup companies. His law practice focuses on energy and environmental policy, regulatory matters, and business planning, with a concentration on renewable and alternative energy development, energy efficiency, technology, sustainability and corporate counseling.

“I think the center needs to position itself as a full-scale resource for both those within the Maryland clean energy sector and those looking to invest in clean energy in Maryland,” said Mr. Greene. “I also hope to further leverage the wealth of resources in Maryland, including our universities, our friends within the federal government and the private industry,” he added.
