Squire Sanders was named one of the top 30 international law firms in Latin America by Latinvex, a leading Latin America business publication.
Winners were chosen by a team of editorial and research staff who reviewed publically available information, external rankings, and legal directory recognitions of over 100 international law firms. Points were awarded based on the scope and prominence of the work, the number and type of staff allocated to Latin America at the firm, and each firm’s physical presence across the region.
“We are extremely proud that Squire Sanders has been recognized among the leading international law firms in Latin America,” said Alejandro Peña-Prieto, managing partner of Squire Sanders’ Santo Domingo office. “Squire Sanders has been active in the region for decades and maintains a strong foothold across a number of industry sectors. We look forward to continued success in providing our clients with high-quality service at a local level.”
This recognition is the latest in a series of accolades Squire Sanders’ Latin American Practice Group has received this year:
- Chambers Latin America recognized four lawyers and two practice areas in its 2013 edition, with one practice group and two lawyers awarded Band 1 distinction. Squire Sanders also has been shortlisted as “Dominican Republic Law Firm of the Year” for Chambers Latin America Awards.
- Santo Domingo was recognized as one of the top firms in the Dominican Republic by legal directories IFLR, Chambers Latin America, Chambers Global, and Legal 500, and leading industry publication Latin Lawyer 250.
- IFLR 1000 ranked as “recommended” the firm’s Latin American Corporate Practice and the firm’s Project Finance Practice; and “highly recommended” the Latin American Dispute Resolution Practice.
- Individual recognitions were awarded by Latinvex to Awilda Alcántara Bourdier and Barbara Alonso as two of the Top 50 women lawyers in Latin America and Alejandro Peña-Prieto was recognized as one of the Top 100 lawyers in Latin America. IFLR 1000 recognized Paul O’Hop, Michele Connell, and Alvaro Mestre as Leading Lawyers in Latin America.
“We are proud of the breadth of experience and commitment the lawyers in our Latin America Practice Group possess,” said Paul O’Hop, leader of Squire Sanders’ Latin American Practice Group. “These accolades signify our place as a major player in the industry, and I look forward to what we can accomplish.”
