Squire Sanders senior associate Pedro H. Hernández has been named a 2013 Rising Star by the Daily Business Review. A panel of judges selected the top 40 South Florida lawyers under the age of 40 who are recognized for the contributions they have made to their community and legal industry and are positioned to become tomorrow’s leaders.
Mr. Hernández’ ability to handle complex public finance transactions in the State of Florida and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico established him as a rising star among his peers. With particular emphasis on bond issues, Mr. Hernández has served as bond counsel, underwriters’ counsel and disclosure counsel in a variety of new money and refinancing issues, including large financings for Miami-Dade County, Broward County, Miami-Dade Expressway Authority, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and other clients.
“We have worked closely on billions of dollars of bond financings for our clients, and I have seen Pedro develop into an outstanding lawyer,” said Luis Reiter, managing partner of Squire Sanders’ Miami office. “Pedro has a keen understanding of the intricacies of tax-exempt financing and inspires confidence in both our clients and other working group members. Clients routinely comment about Pedro’s skills and his commitment to serve their needs.”
Mr. Hernández is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the Belen Alumni Lawyers. He is also a member of the Miami Catholic Lawyers’ Guild and is involved with Voices for Children, a local nonprofit organization that raises funds to ensure court-appointed guardians ad litem for abused and neglected children.
“I am honored to be among this select group of legal leaders,” said Mr. Hernández. “I have been truly fortunate to work with an incredibly talented set of mentors and lawyers in my practice group, as well as clients, to bring me to where I am today and to where I will be tomorrow.”
