Firm Honors Employees and Alumni
WASHINGTON and DOHA, October 16, 2013 – The Doha office of the international law firm Patton Boggs LLP marked its 10-year anniversary this month with a reception celebrating the firm’s alumni and presence in Qatar’s capital.
Patton Boggs is honored to operate in Doha, where in 2003 it became the first U.S. law firm licensed to practice in Qatar upon the invitation of H.H. the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. Patton Boggs remains the only U.S. law firm with lawyers admitted to the Qatar bar and with a license to advise clients on all aspects of Qatar law. Doha Managing Partner Susan B. Bastress established the office and has the distinction of being the first non-Qatari attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Qatar. Partner Robert A. Hager, who served as managing partner of the Doha office from to 2006-2012, continues to support Doha and the firm’s other Middle East offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh.
In particular, Patton Boggs has enjoyed a close alliance with Qatar University School of Law, whose students have regularly participated in the firm’s internship program over the past 10 years.
“Patton Boggs values the support it has received from its clients, employees and alumni in Doha and looks forward to strengthening its relationship with Qatar University School of Law in the coming years,” said Ms. Bastress.
