DC Senior Policy Advisor Norma Krayem commented on cybersecurity incentives federal agencies are considering to encourage industry adoption of a voluntary cybersecurity framework being developed at the direction of President Barack Obama. In an October 1, 2013 Bloomberg BNA article Ms. Krayem said of the recommendations, “It's one thing to provide recommendations, and it's another to actually implement them.” “Now that we have the agency reports,” she added, “We can expect additional review and input from the private sector.” Preliminary agency reports released in August explored the possibility of tying the framework to such incentives as liability protections, tax breaks, grants, cyberinsurance and government contracts. In October, a draft framework is due to be published in the Federal Register for public feedback.
