Denver Managing Partner Peter Gould was quoted extensively in a November 1, 2013 Risk & Insurance piece regarding the insurance-related difficulties facing New York construction trades. Given what the article described as a smaller, more expensive market in New York for construction-related general liability risk, Mr. Gould offered insurers several tips, including the importance of requiring a zero-tolerance disciplinary policy for workplace safety infractions, where an employee caught working contrary to his or her safety training is terminated. “This may be supplemented by carriers’ spot checks or audits of the insured’s workplace to ensure the insured takes safety matters at least as seriously as the carriers,” Mr. Gould said.
