DC Senior Policy Advisor Norma Krayem spoke with Reuters and Bloomberg BNA regarding the release of the final version of a voluntary “framework” designed to arm critical parts of the private sector--such as banks and telecommunications providers--against mounting cyberthreats, while renewing calls for Congress to move forward on legislation to build on the project. In the articles published February 12, 2014, Ms. Krayem pointed out the framework has the potential to kick-start a process in which cybersecurity is given increased attention within U.S. corporations at the senior executive level.“ Understandably, corporate structures are not always set up to manage the multi-headed beast that is cybersecurity, and if the framework can also provide a window into helping companies manage the ultimate legal, regulatory, policy and compliance implications that cyber brings, it may accomplish more than anyone anticipated,” she noted.
