The firm was among more than 40 international oil companies and service firms that participated in a three-day ‘Libya Dialogue’ with Libyan Oil Minister Abdel Bari Al-Arousi and ranking members of Libya’s Petroleum Law Review Committee in February. The roundtable, which was covered by Islamic Finance News on February 15, 2014, was coordinated by the Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce and held in Turkey. US Ambassador to Libya Deborah Jones, who provided a keynote address during the conference, stressed the need for Libya to resume “its oil production fully to support the country’s self-determination in its economic trajectory.” She also recognized the need for a new petroleum law, claiming it would help Libya “create a more transparent, fair and efficiently managed hydrocarbon sector that attracts greater investment from international companies.”
